How big is the lake?
65 acres of water, one bowl of 45 acres and one bowl of 20 acres.

How deep is the lake?
Lac Fishabil ranges from 11ft at the dam wall throughout the middle
to 3-4ft at the margins.


Can we take a bait boat?
No. Bait boats are strictly banned on the lake. We have purpose
equipped rowing boats for all your baiting needs.


Is bait and tackle available on site?
Yes we stock a full range of STARMER BAITS on site along with
mixed pellets and freshly cooked hemp. We also have tackle hire for
lager items such as bed chairs, bivvies, rod pods, 3lb tc rods, big pit
reels, bite alarms & unhooking mats.


Whats the hook rules?
Please use barbless hooks on site at all times. If you have no
barbless hooks you must crimp the barbs off your hooks.


Are we allowed to use braided mainline?
NO. Only braided leader and hook-links are allowed. Lead-core is
also permitted as a leader. Safety rigs are a must at all times


Can we sack fish?
NO. Not under any circumstances.

Are there any poisson chat or crayfish?
Nope.

Is there drinking water available?
We have drinking water available at all times on site.
Just bring a container.

Can we charge our mobile phones?
Yes. You can charge your phones at the center, just
bring your charger.

How do we pick swims?
Swims are on first come basis. However fish can come
from anywhere so there are no hot swims as such to
fight over.

Whats the luggage limit on the organized trips?
All anglers on the organized trips have a weight limit of
100kg, 7 items in total. Non anglers traveling on an
organized trip have a weight limit of 35kg, 2 items in
total.

General Rules & Regulations


No fish are to be removed from the European Specimen Angling Centre

No Fish to be killed or mutilated in any way

Dogs must be kept on a leash and it is the responsibility of the owner to clean up after their animals

Swimming, washing and bathing in the lake is prohibited

The use of remote controlled boats is prohibited on the le lac Fishabil

The use of remote controlled boats is only allowed on kingfisher reserve

Boat hire for Le Lac Fishabil is available from 9am until 9pm or dawn to dusk after October till March and must be returned to the designated tethering point on each bank at the end of day

When using boats on the lake safety must be paramount and behavior whilst using them must reflect this at all times Buoyancy aids are available for each boat and it is the responsibility of the hire to wear them

It is the responsibility of the hirer to return the boat or boats in a clean and safe condition

Braided main-line is not allowed but braided leaders and hook links are permissible

Access to the island is prohibited at all times

Vehicles should only be left in the designated parking areas only

Under no circumstances are fires to be lit . Barbecues are allowed however if raised up from the ground

Anglers must be careful to take responsibility for their actions and avoid casting into their neighbors swims

The health and care of the fish is to be paramount at all times

All anglers must have 1 bottle of media care carp treatment for fish and to be used on the fish before being released

The wildlife and vegetation is to be respected at all times

If swims are left unattended all rods must be wound in

All fishing to be carried out from official swims only

No fouling of swims or littering of the lake and its surroundings

All refuse is to be placed in refuse sacks provided and sorted for recycling

Noise is to be kept at a minimum

No carp sacks are allowed on the lake, if found in possession of one you will be asked to leave the lake immediately with out any refund

Please treat the shower and toilet facilities with respect and leave them in the manner in which you would wish to find them. These facilities are for the benefit of other anglers too

Rowing out of hook baits is not aloud (see boat hire rules and regulations)

The boats must be used for baiting the swim, putting out marker floats or poles and to recover snagged fish only

No Long shank hooks and all hooks to be Barbless only (no micro barbs allowed)

All rods to be set up within 1 meter of the peg number

Maximum of four rods per angler. Only one single hook per line for Le Lac Fishabil

Maximum of three rods per angler. Only one single hook per line for Kingfisher Reserve

No (nut particles) i.e. peanuts ,tiger nuts ,hazelnuts are strictly banned

Large Unhooking mats to be used at all times

Large landing nets only to be used

Absolutely no sacking of carp or cats is permitted. However, when larger specimens are caught they may be kept in a large landing net in the water for up to 30 minutes whilst photographic conditions are made ready

Minimum braking strain line to be used on Fishabil is 8lb and the maximum is 15lb for carp

ESAC has the right to refuse the use of baits that are not of an acceptable quality or nutritional value

Quantity of bait allowed is unlimited but common sense must apply

All rigs used must be of safety rig design to prevent terminal tackle remaining attached to fish in the event of broken line. If a leader is used the end tackle must be able to pass over the leader knot.

All bivvies used on the lake must be of dark green or equivalent dark color or camouflage.

Only one marker pole to be in the water per angler at any one time

Any physical damage caused to fish by capture, leading to bleeding or mouth tears etc. must be treated immediately with Carp Medicare. No other suitable antiseptic or antibiotic treatment is allowed (available at centre)

Coarse Angling Bream/Roach Fishing Le Lac Fishabil & Kingfisher Reserve Only one rod with one single hook to be in the water at any time.

No limit on ground bait however common sense must apply

More than one keep net is allowed but each net must be emptied every 5 hours & the fish released




Cat fish & Predator Fishing Regulations

The use of gaffs is Strictly prohibited

The use of treble hooks are not allowed

The use of lures and spinners are allowed from 1st November to 1st March

No Fish to be killed or mutilated in any way

Live baits cannot be introduced from other waters or fished for. Only the use of approved live baits or dead baits available from the centre is allowed

For catfish and predator fishing the minimum breaking strain is 15lb, the maximum is 25lb

Barbless hooks only and no more than two single hooks per rod are allowed

Boats may be used for the rowing out and positioning of live baits (see boat hire rules and regulations)

When catfish or predator fishing only two rods may be used at any given time
